In 1983, at 20 years and as a random student studying at the National Art University in Russia, I had the idea of collecting art for the first time. Little did I know that it’d grow into something bigger than me.

All I did then was to collect student’s artwork – because it was the only form of art that appealed to me, my imaginations and my dreams at that time. And as you may have guessed, it was pretty affordable for me – for someone who wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth or as a trust fund child.

From that time on, I began to work hard at my own art. There were days when I sat for many hours without movement, just posing to get the art. I was also knowledgeable enough to help other students in creating their art. From catching proportional errors, to fixing the color intensity or even acting as the muse for their works, I did it all. Eventually, I got most of those artworks as appreciation for my work done – win-win for me.

In my lifetime, I have met amazing Russian painters. Most of us had big ambitions, top on the list was becoming like the world known artist, Vasiliy Surikov. But despite the big dreams, some were lazy. Others were more hardworking and put in their best to follow through with these big dreams. As you’d expect the second set of painters reached their best potentials.

The first painting I ever did was my own portrait. And even though it cost me just a few rubles back then, I still have it with me today. It reminds me of those days when it all started, those days back in the university, and how amazing my twenties were.

At 20, I began this art collection career and that represents much of my art story. It was where it all began for me in 1983.

Afterwards, I began my travelling chronicles and went through countries like Poland and Germany. At some point, I had the chance to return to visit the Tretyakovskaya Gallery in Moscow, Russia. It was the most beautiful experience. Never had I seen such beauty and energy radiate from artworks. I was overwhelmed. I couldn’t get enough of the colors and scenes, all integrating and connecting with the vision of the artist who created them.

At that point, I knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life – collect beautiful art that we can all connect to in different ways.

Today, almost three decades since that day at the National Art University in Russia, together with the rest of my team, we’re proud to show the whole world the Legendary Original Russian Art. The world of high quality, deep emotions, unexpected creativity and surrealistic fantasies.

Our mission here is to preserve the memories of the greatest Modern Russian Painters, to showcase artworks for future generations to see and enjoy.

Those artworks from thee decades ago inspired me to start out this journey, and we’re hoping this can inspire you to showcase your own art, preserve it and educate future generations about amazing beauty of original art.

We’re created OriginalPaintingsOilCanvas.com Platform to support new artists and give them the opportunity for worldwide exposure and success!
